Carolina
Beach is located on the Atlantic Coast of Southeastern North Carolina,
15 miles from the historic city of Wilmington uniquely
situated between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean.
Hospitality has long been a trademark of Carolina Beach. It is a unique
resort community and makes a pleasant vacation stop any time, year
round. Located 30 miles from the gulf stream, the mild temperatures and
warm waters offer endless
hours of fun from mid-April through November; from relaxing
and sunning on the white beaches, to fishing, boating, surfing or wave
riding in the blue-green ocean.
Conditions
on Carolina Beach are perfect to enjoy water sports, surf fishing, pier
fishing, deep-sea fishing, skiing, knee boarding, body surfing – the
possibilities are unlimited! USLA certified Lifeguards
are on duty from Memorial Day through Labor Day. When the sun goes down,
the fun begins! Carolina Beach is home to a Boardwalk fully equipped
with arcades, food establishments, and a gazebo where there is live
music on the weekends. Its active charter boat basin at the Municipal
Marina offers nightly moonlight cruises with dancing and offshore
fishing excursions.
Carolina Beach has a lively
central business district with a wholesome family environment and a wide
variety of shopping facilities, from small specialty shops to shopping
centers. Fresh, locally caught seafood is plentiful at many of the fine
restaurants, as well as Italian, and Mexican, convenience food, home
cookin’, steaks or barbeque.
Accommodations include charming motels and inns, family cottages and
luxurious condominium rentals. Churches of most denominations are
located right on the Island. The community parks include swings, ball
fields, tennis courts and basketball courts. The state park offers
nature trails, a marina and camping. Three beautifully designed and
maintained Golf Courses are located within 10 miles.
Since the mid 1800S, Carolina Beach has been a favorite getaway spot
for the residents of nearby Wilmington. But the secret of the sleepy
seaside village is out and more retirees are calling Carolina Beach
their full-time home.
Located on Pleasure Island, uniquely situated between the Cape Fear
River and the Atlantic Ocean, what Carolina Beach is most known for,
besides a relaxing lifestyle, is fishing. In fact, Carolina Beach claims
to have some of the best fishing in the country. Anglers can test their
skills from one of several fishing piers located in and around the
community, wade into the warm Atlantic waters to try surf fishing, or
venture out into the Gulf Stream, only 30 miles off shore.
Carolina Beach residents take pride in the community’s nostalgic
charm and wholesome family atmosphere. The community remains very much a
hold over from the 50s’ era beach community, with its boardwalk,
complete with Ferris wheel, arcade and shops. On weekends residents and
tourists alike can enjoy live music on the boardwalk gazebo.
Residents of the quiet burg will never be in want of something to do.
Carolina Beach has both a marina and boat landing, and the nearby
Carolina Beach State Park offers scenic hiking and camping. The area is
also home to the carnivorous plant, the Venus Flytrap, where they grow
wild in the dunes. For those seeking a more civilized form of
recreation, annual festivities include the Island of Light Holiday
Flotilla, which draws boat owners from all over the area, and the Beach
Blast Music Festival.
Carolina Beach is home to a vibrant, but small, business district,
featuring charming local businesses. But only a short drive from
metropolitan Wilmington, Carolina Beach residents have access to
outstanding medical facilities, national retail and restaurant chains,
and many cultural events. But at the end of a busy day of shopping, the
quiet solitude of home at Carolina Beach is only a short drive away.
